Musical portraits and landscapes evoke images of romantic settings and exotic adventures. This CD is an enchanting musical scrapbook of Garin’s fantastic travels around the world. Garin is well known for his captivating storytelling about the music he plays. His "musical portraits" are told in a special free eight-page booklet written by Garin. It's his belief that when you learn to use your imaginations when you listen to music, you can ignite the powers of a wizard because with just your thoughts, you can go anywhere, be anyone, in any place, in any time.

One Heart’s Journey not only explores your world, but also your hearts. The stories and music also make it the perfect gift album for relaxation, romance, or breathing life into the young imaginations of your children or grandchildren.

Selections from One Heart's Journey
1. Table For One - Many of you have heard and seen Garin perform "Table For One" in his live concerts with Vanessa dancing. .
2. Valiant Return
The scene is Scotland and the battle worn knight is charging home from the long wars on his exhausted stallion. He can hardly contain his excitement and his desire to get home to his beautiful lady in the castle on the hill. He pushes his horse hard through a storm with the rain pounding upon them. How great it will be to be in her arms....and to finally call her his bride.
3. The Wish
This speaks of the quiet moments we all have had as we hold a coin in our hands before tossing it in a pool of water - hoping that our wish will come true. Near the end of the piece, the oboe plays a line that moves upward with a turn and there’s a break in the line - the upward tossing of the coin. Moments later, the coin splashes into the water with the hope that the wish is sealed with magic and good fortune.
4. Just One More Night - My travels have brought many special people into my life but it is a rare occurrence to meet someone who creates a magical spark in your heart.
Unfortunately, time is often unforgiving when passions are heightened and we are forced to say farewell and extinguish that flame too soon after it has been kindled. There is never enough
time and, of course, you always wish you had Just One More Night. This song came to me on Valentines Day, four days after one of those poignant goodbyes. I won't forget her.... .
5. El Toro - The scene is a bullring in Spain where we see the great matador enter the arena to the sounds of the fanfare and roaring crowd.
During his regal entrance parade he is captivated by a glimpse of a strikingly beautiful senorita and must force himself to retain his composure. Hopefully, he will catch her
eye again on the next pass, as she is obviously enthralled with him as well. As the bull snorts and angrily charges, we sense that the matador is engaged not only in battle with
the beast but is also struggling to recover the concentration necessary to avoid an ugly and untimely death. As the matador gracefully plunges his sword in one final charge we
realize that the death of the bull at the hands of the most courageous of men is inevitable this day. The breathtaking senorita honors the matador with a rose thrown at his feet and,
as he leans on bended knee to salute her, the bull draws its last breath and dies. .
6. Reaching Through the Moon
Touring can be very lonely sometimes. Although a performer might have thousands of adoring fans in an audience every week, that special someone quite often can not travel with you. I have often looked at the moon and wished it were true that by intensely gazing at it, deep feelings and loving words could be communicated through the vast miles that separated us. Perhaps she’s peering at the moon at the same time? The piano and guitar are are like separated souls throughout the opening of this piece. It is only in the closing phrases that they join and slowly intertwine like the fingers of our hands finally joined together by the magic of music.
7. Enchanted Hill
This tells of the incredibly beautiful San Simeon Castle which is rests on the top of the rolling mountains of the California Coast where rolling fields of mustard seed cascade down to the ocean. Where cattle graze close to the Pacific Ocean and sea lions find refuge and sun on the beaches. A beautiful and glorious place to be and bask in the sunlight and riches of nature.
8. Amazon Journey
Traveling up the Amazon River was one of the most fascinating and exotic journey's I've made. I wanted to create a piece of music which could capture some of the sights and sounds I saw and give listeners an audio portrait seen through my eyes. We enter the Amazon with exuberance and naivete for the vast power it wields. The rain begins as the river narrows and the overhanging foliage becomes dark and foreboding. We hear the sounds of the deep jungle, the birds high in the canopies, and the amazing waterfalls. And, of course, the animals. Amidst our fear and awe, a calmness overcomes us as we hear the flutes of the native peoples. But, it is interrupted by the stealth and fury of an alligator and a school of piranha that whisk threateningly by us and disappear down a distant tributary. It leaves our hearts pounding. I left the Amazon much wiser than I entered it and with the highest regard for it's massive power and unbelievable beauty. It was by a tranquil full moon we sailed safely out of the Amazon. We had journeyed through one of the most amazing of rivers in the world...or was it that we escaped?
9. One Heart's Journey
10. Passages - This piece is an expression of appreciation for good friends departing and going their separate ways, remembering the great times, being grateful
that our life's journeys had crossed paths, wondering when will be the next time we meet...and with the hope that it will be soon. .
11. Vanessa's Dance
12. The Pharaoh's Promise - A warm evening breeze snuffs out the last flickers of the campfire leaving only the blue moonlight to illuminate our camp and
the astonishing stone structures that rise ominously out of the desert sands. Almost hypnotized, we are transported back in time to marvel at the generations of laborers
hauling massive lime stones across the desert in preparation for the construction of the Pharaoh's monument to immortality. In the same moment, we witness dream-like scenes of
grand funerary processions and attempts of robbery and pillaging by tomb raiders. In awestruck fear, we pause at the entrance to this architectural wonder, pondering the mysteries
that may lay within. With the wind howling at our backs through the darkness, we catch a glimpse of the ancient hieroglyphics on the walls ahead as our only torch flickers and is finally
extinguished. We are left alone with the entombed Pharaoh in a blackness that is centuries old, surrounded by the fabulous riches that were meant to accompany him on his journey to the
after-life. Suddenly, the room is illuminated with a fiery glow and we see a solid stone wall slide open, exposing a mysterious ceremony in progress. Gold and precious gems glitter in the
firelight as guards, slaves and members of the royal court dance in frenzied revelry. The wall-mounted torches ignite, revealing a free-standing gold sarcophagus and a stunningly beautiful
woman who entices me to open the latch. As the temptress looks on, the heavy, gem-encrusted lid quickly breaks free and swings open only to reveal...Wait! How can this be so? In stunning
disbelief I realize that SHE is in the coffin. I pull on her violet silk veil for confirmation even though I still feel her presence behind me... Turning quickly, I find myself staring into the glowing
red eyes of the Pharaoh himself! I am frozen. Knowing that I am about to die, I can only stand and watch as he raises his golden dagger. And then it hits me...this must be the great secret that
is spoken of in hushed whispers in the village. This is the Queen's resting place, not the Pharaohs! My sudden realization, that the Pharaoh's Secret was his timeless promise to protect his
love from all who dare to intrude on her journey to eternal life, has most certainly guaranteed my death. I feel the pressure on my chest as the burning dagger enters my heart repeatedly
and then, as I frantically gasp for breath, all fades to black. Terrified, I awaken, only to find myself sitting upright in my own bed and, looking down, I wonder why the Queen's violet veil is
still clutched in my hand. .
13. Gratitude
This was written for my parents for all their hard work, sacrifices, and the love with which they nurtured my career. Their dream was to see me in Carnegie Hall. My dream was to have them there in my audience. All our dreams were realized in 1987 and I pay my respects to them with, Gratitude.
14. Pictures of You
I composed this after coming home from a long tour feeling very alone. I opened the door, put down my bags, and immediately my piano beckoned for me to play it. I was finally coming home to the photographs of a girl in my life who took my breath away....her pictures around the house remind me...of the happy times we had...
This is what the piano had to say...
